Park City and the Wasatch Back
Taking new clients

Trauma therapy for Park City, by video.

I'm a licensed trauma therapist in Utah, and EMDR is the core of what I do. I work by video with adults in Park City, Deer Valley, Heber, and Kamas. There's no office to drive to, and no parking lot where someone recognizes your car.

Who this is for

Three reasons people here call me

You don't have time to fall apart

You run something. A company, a department, or a household that only works because you keep it working. The competence is real, and it's also load-bearing, so coming apart isn't on the schedule. Most people who reach me like this have been managing it for years first. EMDR runs in a defined chapter. Roughly 8–12 weeks against one target, then a review.

Your body still thinks it's happening

A crash on the mountain, an accident on the canyon road, or a fall you walked away from and then couldn't stop replaying. The injury healed and the nervous system didn't. You brace at the top of a run, or you flinch at a sound that means nothing. That gap between what you know and what your body does is what EMDR works on.

You've never told anyone

Some people arrive carrying something from childhood they've never said out loud, to a spouse, a friend, or a therapist. Saying it once in the wrong room would cost too much, so they've kept it. A first session with me is a conversation about whether you want to say it, and nothing more than that.

This market specifically

What the local data says

The 2024 Park City wellbeing survey found most residents rate their own mental health as good or excellent. That same survey put community connection at 3.32 out of 5, which ranked Park City 17th of 51 Utah cities. The combination is familiar to me. People doing well by every visible measure, without anyone to say the hard thing to.

Summit County's 2026 community survey flagged men under 45 as carrying much of this, reporting isolation and uncertainty about the future. A meaningful share of my caseload is men who wouldn't normally do therapy.

How it works

Where I work, and the one rule that matters

I'm licensed in Utah, so I see clients anywhere in the state. Video sessions run through SimplePractice, and you'll get a link before each one.

  • Park City and Deer Valley
  • Kimball Junction and Snyderville
  • Heber City, Midway, and Kamas
  • Anywhere else in Utah
You have to be physically in Utah during each session, because that's where my license applies. If you split the year between Park City and somewhere else, we can work while you're here and we pause when you're not. Second-home clients plan around it once they know, and it's better to know now than in October.
Discretion

What discretion means here

Park City is small enough that people notice things. There's no waiting room and no front desk that learns your name. You're at home, or in your own office with the door shut. The payment model matters just as much, and you get to choose it. I'm in-network with SelectHealth, Regence BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna and Carelon Behavioral Health; with any other plan, it's one of the two options below.

Pay directly

  • Nothing goes to your insurance company
  • No diagnosis enters your record
  • HSA and FSA eligible
  • Nobody outside the room is deciding what you need

Use insurance

  • SelectHealth, Regence BCBS, Aetna, Cigna or Carelon: I bill the plan, you pay your copay or coinsurance
  • Any other plan: I provide a superbill you file yourself
  • Either way, a claim carries a diagnosis code to your insurer
  • Coverage and reimbursement depend on your plan, not on me

Every route works, so pick knowing which is which. Covered by one of those plans but would rather pay directly? That's your call; tell me before we start. The fees page has the mechanics.

Credentials

Who you'd be working with

I'm Cassy Pierce. Here's the short version of why I'd be the one doing this work with you.

  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, State of Utah, license 13587991-6004
  • M.S. Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CACREP-accredited program
  • EMDRIA-approved EMDR training, the standard set by the field's governing body
  • Roughly 500 EMDR sessions inside a caseload of 1,500+
  • EFIT and trauma-focused CBT training, with CBT and ACT in day-to-day use

I'm direct. Ask me a question on the consult and you'll get an answer. That includes whether I'm the right fit, and the name of someone who is if I'm not.

Scope

What I take, and what I send elsewhere

What I work on

  • Trauma and PTSD, single-event and complex
  • Childhood and sexual trauma, emotional neglect
  • Occupational and moral injury
  • Attachment and relationship patterns
  • Betrayal trauma, individually, for either partner
  • Anxiety and depression sitting on top of trauma
  • Grief, and life and faith transitions

What I refer out

  • Children and younger teens
  • Couples and family therapy
  • Both members of the same couple
  • Compulsive sexual behavior treatment
  • Medication management
  • Crisis and higher-acuity care

Adults are my focus. A teen of sixteen or older I'll consider case by case, with parental consent. I refer the right-hand column out promptly, and there's more on scope on the services page.
